Congratulations! You're engaged and getting married.... now where do you start?

Here we give you a 12-Month To Do Calender
(your month by month guide to your perfect day)

12 Months to Go...

Sit down and have the money conversation with your partner and your parents to decide on your budget and who will pay for what.
Fix a date and time with your registrar.
Decide on guest numbers.
Visit reception venues and book as soon as possible.
Visit as many wedding fayres as possible, to get a good idea of suppliers and prices in your area.
11 Months to Go...
Send out save-the-date-cards.
Book your photographer and, if you want one, a videographer. Make sure that the curch or wedding venue allows photography.
Book your caterer and your band or DJ
Make appointments to try on wedding dresses
10 Months to Go...
Pick your bridesmaids, ushers and best man.
Decide on your dress- allow at least four months for a made-to-measure gown to be delivered.
Start thinking about your honemoon destination. It's always good to book early to ensure availability.
9 Months to Go...
Find a florist.
Discuss buttonholes, bouquets and the arrangments you'd like for each venue.
Confirm your menu choice and drink order with your caterer.
Choose and order your bridesmaids' outfits.
8 Months to Go...
If you're marrying in a church, discuss readings with the minister and music with the organist/ceremony musicians.
For a civil ceremony, enquire about what readings and music are permitted.
Order invitations and envelopes, as wellas place cards and menues.
7 Months to Go...
Book transport to your wedding venue and on to the reception for you, your parents and your attendants.
Don't forget to organise transport to take you to your first-night hotel or the airport.
Order your wedding cake.
Choose and order favours if you're having them.
6 Months to Go...
Groom needs to sort out his, the best man's and the ushers outfits
Choose gifts for your attendants, best man, mums and helpers.
Pick your wedding rings.
Confirm your order of service with your minister or registrar, then have guests' booklets printed. if you have a choir they will need copies too.
5 Months to Go...
If you're changing your name, now's the time to renew your passport - you';; need to ask the officiating minister or registrar to sign the application form for you.
Book a consultation with your hairstylist to discuss looks for your wedding (allow more time if you want to grow it).
4 Months to Go...
Go shopping! Remeber, summer honeymoon clothes aren't easy to find in winter.
Find out if you need visas or inoculations for travel abroad.
Discuss hen and stag night plans with your attendants.
It would be lovely if the Groom would book your first-night hotel.
3 Months to Go...
Try different looks with your make-up artist.
Book your hairstylist for your wedding day and any other colour or trim appointments.
Book a rehearsal and tell those who need to be there.
Choose a company for your gift list and compile it.
Attend the reading of the banns on a Sunday at your church.
2 Months to Go...
Send out invitations and keep an up-to-date list of acceptances and refusals.
Groom to check that he has the rings, his wedding clothes, your first-night hotel and the buttonholes sorted.
Try on your whole outfit. Forgotten anything? Get it now!
Book any beauty treatments such as a fake tan.
1 Month to Go...
Let your caterers know the final number of guests.
Work out a seating plan.
Discuss special requests/playlists with your band or DJ.
Order honeymoon currency.
Have your final haircut and colour two weeks before the big day.
Go on your hen and stag nights - it's time to party!
1 Week to Go...
Make some last minute phone calls to confirm all your suppliers.
Collect the wedding dress.
Collect any hired outfits.
Collect wedding rings.
Run through the vows.
Practise the reception speeches.
Collect travellers cheques and currency
Pack for honeymoon.
Give a shot list to the photographer.
Wrap all thank-you gifts.
Have a manicure and pedicure
Have a fake tanning treament
Enjoy a romantic dinner together - Don't mention WEDDINGS!!!
1 Day to Go...
Give the rings and monies for fees and tips to best man.
Have luggage/overnight bags/clothes take to hotel.
Speak to all attendants.
Relax and have an early night.
Set your alarm.
On The Day...
Have a good breakfast.
Have a glass of bubbly, but only one!
Have hair and make up done.
Check bouquet and buttonholes have arrived.
Have buttonholes delivered to ushers.
Put your engagement ring on your right hand
During The Day...
Have a fabulous time! Set aside 10 minutes every hour to sit quietly together and soak up the atmosphere.
If Your're going Abroad...
Tell them you're on honeymoon - ask for an upgrade.
Honeymoons At Home...
Have one, if only a few days at home.
Tell everyone you're going away so they leave you in peace.
Fill the fridge with goodies.
Get all the take-away menus.
Order wine for home when you order for the reception.
Buy/Hire favourite videos/DVS's.
Open your presents.
After The Honeymoon...
Send 'Thank You' notes.
Post or deliver cake to those not at wedding.
Change name on legal documents, e.g. drivers licence.
Give yourselves new things to look forward to.
